During my meditation around American Thanksgiving, I finally downloaded the following structure on creating wealth.  I realized that the structure of wealth creation was given by Andrew Carnegie. It consisted of 3 parts:

1) Remove limiting beliefs and attitudes (which I could now teach, having learned about beliefs through my course in Clear Beliefs)

2) Create abundance and success consciousness and habits (which I now understood more clearly and had a structure via abundance code and Deepak Chopra abundance meditation).

3) Create a Definite purpose and execute on it (which I had learned via Jack Canfield, Napoleon Hill, Optimize.me, and numerous other teachings).

The key was that I now understood there was a structure and the missing parts that I needed to emphasize were clearer to me on how to teach them.  My contribution was not creating anything new.  It was providing a framework that had long been forgotten and to give greater insight into some of the elements that many were missing on lots of levels, either from a spiritual perspective, emotional, conscious, subconscious, or from a practical perspective.

Andrew Carnegie was a true rag to riches story, and at the end of his life, he wanted to give mankind the gift of what he had learned to create what would be one of the 10 largest fortunes in history.  He commissioned Napoleon Hill to prove and distill Carnegie’s knowledge.  In 1908, Napoleon Hill interviews Andrew Carnegie on the science of achievement. 20 years later, after doing research to verify Carnegie’s views, the first book is written, Laws of Success in 1928.  In 1937, almost 30 years later, Think and Grow Rich is written.  We know, Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich has been one of the foundations of the personal development movement.  It is also the book that many have proclaimed has made more millionaires in history than any other book.  Very few people though have actually been exposed to the original thoughts of Andrew Carnegie.

The best way to get Carnegie’s thoughts is by reading the original interview between Napoleon Hill and Carnegie.  A large part of the interview on the 17 Success Principles of Carnegie was reprinted in a horribly titled book called “How to Raise Your Salary” in 1953.  I need to credit Peter Antonov in his YouTube video Think and Grow Rich (Best Summary Ever)here on leading me to this interview. A free pdf version of How to Raise Your Salary can be found at pdfdrive.com click here. (Note: The Napoleon Hill Foundation has started to reprint various series that contains both the parts of the interview and also Napoleon Hill’s explanations. This includes books like How to Own Your Own Mind, the Master Key to Riches, etc.)

When you read the actual interview, you really begin to understand all that Napoleon Hill simplified and communicated in Think and Grow Rich.  I would highly recommend that anyone who wants to truly get an upper leg on how to create wealth read “How to Raise Your Salary”.  The concept of a mastermind is really explained and so is the again the badly named principle of going the extra mile (you need to create and give more than you receive to get what you want).

I found the framework for creating wealth in the Carnegie interview.

As documented in the book, “How to Own Your Own Mind”, in 1908, Hill asks Carnegie: “What is the first move a man makes when he is through with poverty and has become determined he will have riches? Where is the precise point at which the transition from poverty takes place, and how may one reach that point?”

Carnegie responds, “The man who prepares himself to change from poverty to riches is something like the farmer who wishes to convert a forest into a productive field. He first clears away the timber and debris.  Then he plows the ground and conditions the soil. After that, he plants the seeds….”

Notice the 3 step framework that Carnegie uses: 1. Clears away timber, 2. Plows ground and 3. Plants the seeds.

Carnegie goes on to say: “It is precisely the same procedure with the man who makes up his mind to be done with poverty.

He must clear his mind of all negatives and self-imposed limitations.” (MHS Note, clears the timbers in step 1, is being equated to clear negative beliefs and emotions.)

“The next step is that of making one’s self success-conscious”.  (MHS Note: plows the fields in step 2 is equated to creates self-success conscious).  “Riches have a way of gravitating toward the man who has made up his mind to have them.” (MHS Note: Carnegie is essentially explaining the law of attraction here—once you have a success conscious (or abundance conscious), you can start to attract wealth or abundance to you.)

“He is then in a position to adopt a Definite Major Purpose and to begin expressing it in action, through a definite plan”. (MHS Note: plant the seeds…is being equated to the steps of definite major purpose, which is just one of the 17 principles and which Carnegie identifies as being the most important of all 17))….” From this point on he applies the principles of individual achievement…”  (MHS Note: Carnegie goes on to explain that you need to apply the rest of the principles explained to create wealth).

Carnegie finishes his explanation with the following: “If he has properly charged his mind with success consciousness, he will not want to quit. This preparation is an absolute essential for the acquisition of riches.” (MHS Note: Carnegie emphasizes why the second step is so important.  Success consciousness is important to provide GRIT or motivation for the person to continue to be persistent, which Carnegie believes is essential for acquiring riches.  So he explains why you need step 2—it’s the fuel in addition to the ability to attract riches.)

So there is a simple framework for creating wealth.  Cut down the forest, fertilize the field and plant the seeds: remove limiting beliefs, create abundance and success consciousness, and create a definite purpose and obtain using the success principles. However, as you will see from a series of articles to come on each section, it is not easy.  Simple, but not easy.

Clearing one’s mind of all negatives and self-imposed limitations could be a lifetime project for some (ahem, not pointing any names Mark Hugh Sam. LOL).

Then achieving success and abundance consciousness (i.e. getting the right beliefs, habits, and state of mind is also a long journey).

Finally, once you have those, then applying the 17 Success Principles—or any other wealth creation principles is often a lifetime work.

However, there are ways to shorten the time and ways to make it easier along the journey.  And it’s the journey that is important for our spiritual evolution and the journey the rewards of helping others in the pursuit of your life’s work is the hero’s journey.

Therefore, once you become conscious and take possession of your mind.  You can train your mind using neuroplasticity to upgrade the core brain network components of your mind: awareness, imagination, salience, motivation, emotions, and align your beliefs, values, and self-identity to become your best self.

Once you upgrade your mind, you have an evolved mind, a mind that is calm, kind, and creative. This is the master key to life. You have control over your mind and also access to Infinite Intelligence.

You can use your new mind to unlock and create evolved mind solutions to achieve health, happiness, love, and abundance in all areas of your life.

In other words, Steps 1 and 2 of Carnegie’s formula would have been completed as part of developing your Evolved Mind.  With your evolved mind you can then create an evolved mind solution for wealth.

1. Use Your AWARENESS to understand your gifts and SALIENCE to Decide on what you want to give to the world and use it to create an asset (business, product, etc). (Definite Purpose)

2. Use Your IMAGINATION to Create a plan for what you want giving more value than you receive. The written or communicable plan has to be in the realm of possibility (50% probability is ideal—stretch, not break) using your AWARENESS (analytical ability) and be time-bound.

3. Use Your IMAGINATION to Visualize every day or affirm it–which tells your subconscious mind that this is what you really want.  Eventually, it becomes an obsession and desire ie very strong feelings for what you want.

4. USE your EMOTIONS and BELIEFS to Create a Clear channel of enthusiasm for what you want (no fears or anger) to the subconscious that picks up on the feelings and sends the information into Infinite Intelligence.

5. Use Your MOTIVATION to take Action (at least 60 to 90 minutes first thing in the morning every day) on the plan and move towards it. Use VALUES to have Pleasure while in Action.

6. Use  IMAGINATION, EMOTIONS, BELIEFS, VALUES, FUTURE SELF AND MOTIVATION to Create the Self Who You Need to Be to Attain what you want and take Action to become that Person (BE, DO, HAVE)

7. Use VALUES AND SALIENCE (LOVE) to Create the mastermind to find out what you don’t know and create the alliances and network you need.

8. Infinite Intelligence will send resources to help you. Use your AWARENESS to be on the lookout for them..this includes a plan and people that may be better than your plan or modifications of your plan that are sent via your conscious back into your mind.

9. Keep taking Action using MOTIVATION including your visualizations and decisions based on your FUTURE SELF IDENTITY of you in the completion of what you want.

10. Use EMOTIONS to know things feel right and fit together.  Use AWARENESS for Feedback to course-correcting until you reach your goal.  The plane is 97% of course until it lands.

1.       Which of these 3 steps in the framework do you need to work on?

Notes Below Shared with my Newsletter published with this article.

I hope my friends celebrating Thanksgiving are having a wonderful weekend, despite the macro-environment of Covid-19. This was going to be a fairly long post. However, I have decided to break up various parts of my writing for newsletter purposes. The blog at www.markhughsam.com in some cases will have the entire post. I am serially writing my book as I also write my posts, so I am hoping by 2021, I will have several published works out: 1) a contributing author to Life Lessons in Success, which may be out before Christmas, 2) A Success Principle Workbook, which will be out early in the year. 3) And then in about the second half of the year, my book called the Evolved Mind Solutions: Creating Health, Happiness, Love, and Abundance in your Life. If you have a better title, please let me know, I may need it. LOL. Below is the blog post

On a sad note, last weekend, my best friend, Jeff Rabin died of a massive heart attack. Jeff is the person who supported me through my second divorce, my false criminal accusations, and helped me get through both when many deserted me. He also helped me significantly when I transitioned to the investment banking world and couldn’t write well enough for the job. I had a silly argument with him that got in the way of these last few years, I hope to remember to drop petty issues quicker in the future. Jeff thought me lots of how to be a true friend. Funny, he was agnostic and when he transitioned, I am sure he sent me a message to say that there is more on the other side. Jeff, I miss you already and thank you for being a real friend.
